Principal Engineer Systems & Controls
We’re looking for a talented engineer to work on a breakthrough active suspension system for passenger cars. You will lead a small team of systems & controls engineers to bring a new product to market. You will be responsible for system development and system validation of an electro-hydraulic actuator. You and your team will develop the controls for the actuator to produce benchmark vehicle dynamics, comfort, NVH and safety.
Lead development of algorithms for our electrohydraulic actuator to deliver a driving experience that optimizes comfort, NVH and safety
Support model-based auto generated controller code development to automotive standards
SYSTEMS ENGINEERING/REQUIREMENT/TEST CASCADE
Use and improve models of our actuators to simulate and test control algorithms, evaluating and verifying all aspects of dynamic behavior at both component and system level
Use model-based systems engineering to translate actuator requirements to electrical and hydraulic component level requirements and guide system (H/W+S/W) architecture
Lead team to design experiments, test specifications and coordinate with other teams to conduct testing on actuators/vehicles and validate and refine requirements
Owner of actuator DFMEA
Support root-cause investigations and analysis of results from simulations and actuator/vehicle testing
Assist team members with creating project scope of work, prioritizing tasks and tracking progress against deadlines
Mentor team members on controller design and systems engineering techniques and best-practices
Application development: Drive cost-reduction activities, risk assessments, and other tasks
Support departmental budget development
MS in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar technical discipline.
Engineering background in feedback control theory: linear system analysis, stability analysis, frequency response, optimal control techniques, signal processing
5+ years of experience developing feedback controllers in one of the following fields: multi-body systems, structural vibrations, acoustics
Beneficial 5+ years experience with algorithm development, MIL/HIL testing and release for production application
Beneficial 5+ years experience with modeling and characterizing systems that involve electromechanical / hydraulic actuators
Experience interpreting performance requirements from stakeholders and creating component level (H/W+S/W) requirements and test specifications
Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
Excellent communication and collaborative experience with global cross functional teams.
Passionately motivated to take ideas from an early concept to a verified product
Can demonstrate proven success in an atmosphere with varying amounts of ambiguity, but still able to set and deliver on plans with proven processes.
Data-driven problem-solving skills, with understanding of tools and key performance indicators
Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.
